James Frederick PATIENT

From Commonwealth War Graves Commission website:

Private James Frederick Patient { 3/3472 } 2nd Battalion, Essex Regiment who died on 24 May 1915.  Age 33.

Remembered on Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.

From 1911 and 1901 Census:

A married man aged 29 in 1911, with a wife aged 27 and three young daughters:  Florence (6), Blanch (3) and Edith (1).  He was employed as a horse-keeper on a farm, and his address is given as Duton Hill, Tilty, nr. Dunmow.

From the 1901 census, it also appears that James Frederick was the son of Thomas and Charlotte Patient.

Private J F Patient entered France on 1st May 1915, and was killed in action on the 24th of that month – just 23 days later.

He was entitled to the 1914-15 Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
